The brief for this home had a focus on a love of small cottages integrated into their environment.

We chose to layer the home over two stories, working with the hillslope.  Opening up views from the upper level, and integrating into the garden on the lower level.

Multiple outdoor living spaces were created, giving options depending on sun and wind, as well as providing privacy.

Bulk was reduced by using a pleated roof form along the streetfront.  This also allowed the forms to be more "cottage" in proportion. 

An internal courtyard brings light into the core of the home, as well as reinforcing its focus on the environment.

Timber is used throughout the exterior and interior of the home.  In combination with its high performance, and environmental integration, the home leans into biophilic design principles.
