Studio

Our designs are a direct response to their environment. The layouts suit the topography, views, prevailing winds, and position of the sun. They focus on ensuring our clients briefs are met and expectations exceeded, and that they are great spaces to spend time in.

Through the teams experience which ranges from working for structural engineers and building their own homes, Young Architects designs are known to be practical and efficient to construct, and therefore very cost effective.

We prefer to design the whole building, not just the outside. This gives our clients a more cohesive, considered design.

Due to its small size, all staff are fully aware and involved with each projects requirements, meaning that nothing is lost in the translation from initial brief to final completion.

Young Architects stays at the forefront of design excellence, producing a small number of projects each year, and ensuring a consistently superlative result.

Originally started as Life+Style+Architecture in 2003, we've recently changed our branding to Young Architects to reflect how our architecture has matured. Young Architects is a practice member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA).

Greg Young
Managing Director,
Architect

Greg is an award winning architect, and has been involved in over 20 award winning NZIA and ADNZ projects. Greg established Young Architects (initially Life Style Architecture) in 2003 as a progression of his design career, after leaving one of New Zealand's most prominent architectural firms.

Throughout his career, Greg has gained experience in every aspect of the architectural industry, from structural and architectural draughting, steelwork and concrete fabrication detailing, 3D modelling, and design. He has worked on industrial, residential and commercial projects ranging from small baches to multi-million dollar homes. This work has included a full range of architectural genres included Gothic Revival, Arts and Crafts, and Modernism. In loving memory of Seamus, 2008 - 2023.

Seamus was an important part of our team, spending a lot of time in the office, in charge of customer relations, meeting everyone enthusiastically at the door, and helping with site inspections.

Like JP, Seamus also liked cats.
