Specifically designed as a family home with upmarket bed and breakfast suites, this home is a challenging mix of home and hotel.
The Mackenzie Country where the home is located is a particularly beautiful and raw part of the South Island, and the materials of the home were chosen to reflect that - local stone, charred timber, and corten steel wrap the exterior of the home, while the interior is softened with oak and native red beech.
Different areas of the home are defined with the pavilions, which in turn break down the mass of the large home into forms that are reminiscent of the scale of buildings traditionally found in the area.
The roof forms of the different pavilions reflect the surrounding foot hills and the alps in the background.
