01 Helmores

With a substantial amount of Christchurch's historic architecture destroyed in the 2010/2011 earthquakes, the owners of this home chose to build a new Georgian Revival home.

The proportions and detailing of the home are based on the original English detail rather than the versions built throughout the colonies.

Due to the proximity of the home to the Avon River, the construction is lightweight, rather than brick home, and is finished in a solid plaster render over lightweight concrete panels.

Internally, the home has been designed to suit a modern lifestyle rather than the traditional layout from Georgian history.
